Dd (14) needs new school trousers. I sent for some v nice ones from Next. They are exactly the same as the ones she had last year and liked (bootcut).

Now no no no (and that Hmm look that teenagers do) she wants skinny school trousers. Where do I get those from??Confused I'm not even sure they'll be allowed (she says yes, but she would say that) She'll look like Max Wall wearing them with a blazer.

Help! She's tall and slim and would need age 15 cos of her height.

I like my child being in a secondary school that enforces uniform rules because it stops children setting up their own dress code and bullying those that won't or can't conform to fashion.

peaksandtroughs if you are 'lucky' enough to go to a school with, say a blue tartan skirt, a yellow shirt, blue striped tie and brown blazer, perhaps that would work. But the reality is that most state schools have black or grey trousers, polo shirt (or shirt/tie), black shoes and a jumper with a distinctive school badge. Within even those items there is a huge amount of scope for bullying and shaming: wrong shape trousers, wrong length tie, wrong shoes (rocket dog v startrite anyone??) or (heaven forbid) handmedowns.

Its a battle ground and teachers police it. Please let me me minister of education just for one day and put school uniform right Hmm
and don't get me started on bloody pencil cases

Navy and white tartan kilt, blue revere neck blouses and navy school blazer for us - option to rebel - minimal!

My only battle is school bags!

My DD's new uniform is black and white tarten skirt, blazer and white shirt, all of which have to come from the school shop! Not a lot of room for arguments thank god! The "dress code" did make me laugh as you could see all the ways that the children had tried to push the bounderies in previous years. For example: only girls may have pierced ears (ears note...not anything else), they may only be pierced once and that must be in the lobe. The can only wear gold studs. "Shoes must be capable of being polished." That is an exact quote BTW!
They leave no scope for argument. Bliss!

DD1 has had no end of stick because she wears trousers that sit on her waist and were a bit short (she'd grown - teens doHmm).

I did relent and buy her some longer ones, but she refuses to have them hanging off her hips. Therefore, I expect, they will still offend certain girls in her class.

Honestly you would think that black trousers were simple.
