Has your DC got home work for secondary school even though they dont start until September?

My DN has. She has to write an essay about the Olympics opening ceremony and she didnt even watch it. I broke into a sweat tonight and wanted to write it for her. Is this normal now?

The (grammar) school my two children joined as Year 7s last September, set them a number of challenges throughout the summer holidays (quite alot of work) ready for them starting and then they had to give a presentation on these challenges in the first few days of school by way as an intorduction to their new classmates. Thank goodness they are now going into Year 8 and they have no challenges!

I did consider making an excuse but thought i may get caught, just my luck

No, nothing here but we did get an information leaflet from the English Faculty recommending books for him to read during the summer holidays.
