When do you get your school reports ?

DD has just finished Yr 7. She was given her report on the last day of term, is this usual for secondary school ? If I want any further details I have to wait until September. The only other time we were given indication of levels was at Parent's Evening in March.

Very usual for Primary but not so much for secondary.

We have one full report and a parents evening in the week after.

We have two interim reports. After one of them, there is a tutor meeting in the following week. After the other, nothing. So, if that interim fell close to end of year then, yes, I suppose we'd be in a relatively similar position to you.

I recall my daughters year 9 (she has left now, so have been through 5 years with her plus three with my son) - the interim without feedback meeting arrived in the final week and it was theme week so you couldn't get hold of teachers to discuss.

For year 7 we received full report on 11th July (Thursday) 2012. This consisted on one A4 page for each subject including levels and a longer written report. We also received a grade sheet at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms. Parents meeting was in January. If there were things we were unsure about we had until the following Monday to contact the school - the end of term was Friday 20th July. One formal parents meeting a year seems to be normal for secondary schools, but there are opportunities to contact tutors at any time.

Thanks, I guess this is just part of the secondary system.

DS1 (yr9) got his on Thursday, and DS2 (Yr7) got his on Friday. There won't be any parent's evening until the Spring term, but tbh if I had any issues I know I can email the school/their form tutors/individual teachers as needed (not that I have, so how well that works I have no idea!)

Not my experience for any of my dc (1 at Primary and 2 at 2 different secondary schools).
Have always had them a good week before end of term, in case anything needs to be raised (not that there should be surprised, but obviously it's important to talk with the school if there are).
Staff will still be in though after the children have gone, if you wanted to phone / call in / e-mail them.
