I am well aware of TY's less pleasnat pronouncements on the topic of special needs, as a reader of the Spectator, thanks. But if I let those influence my assessment of the merits of the free schools policy, that would make me an idiot. Which I am not.

Toby Young and his chums look after themselves first and Another article Nepotism rules as usual. So much for a fair admissions policy. Angry

He has changed his tune
Tony Young Quote from above article, cut and pasted:

"We don't know where the site is going to be, but I'm 99 per cent sure that it won't be close enough to qualify for a place on the proximity criteria," he said " I'll just have to enter the lottery along with every other parent, and there's no guarantee that my children will get in "

Seems like he has quietly and surreptitiously found a way around this. I wouldn't have minded quite so much if he had been a little more honest about it. Talk about a sense of entitlement... Shameful.

Even if we did live in the catchment, Toby Young wouldn't have my kids at his school willingly and certainly wouldn't treat them with respect.

If all he has so far is 4/5 form entry year 7s, then I think it's rather early to hail the success of the school.
