what 'structure' do you suggest? I have managed to enrol one for a 'Gym Zone' that takes youngsters 14 -16 in the afternoon but other ideas welcome.

I don't mind lie-ins, but my heart sinks at the thought of the endless nagging"Get off that computer!!!! That's enough blasted X-Box!!!!"

I agree about the cost. I thought we'd do a train expedition to the next town. 2 dcs + me was £20!!!!! And to think they're putting up the train prices again to finance "improvements". There'll be no one on their flippin' improved trains.

greyvix , I agree about being bored. the problem these days is, it seems you have to actively supervise them to reach that state of boredom, because left to their own devices they sidle off to the computer for 8 hours at a stretch, then refresh themselves in front of The Simpsons for a couple of hours. We need a power cut all summer.

totally agree. Especially with the term "sidle"... an otherwise noisy and cumbersome child can move with cat-like stealth when it comes to sneaking onto the computer.

How funny to think that these days you have to be a pushy mum to facilitate boredom !

I don't think it is so much a boredom thing for my boys but more a gentle nudge so that they make the most of the holidays.
