I am looking at DD taking this entrance exam and she is currently at a local primary school. I have no idea of where to start in looking for a tutor to help her prepare. Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated as wells as any thoughts on the school!
Cheers!

She shouldn't need a tutor. It's not really the done thing for a school like SWPS.

She can familiarise herself with the VR/NVR tests by going through a few Bond Assessment papers.

If you want to know more, go to the Parents' Information afternoon next term.

It's a fab school - ticks all the boxes.

My neighbours DD got in this year. She didn't have a tutor. I think if the girls are working at a good level 5 then they are fine.

Just checked - they just have papers in English and Maths.

Thanks - I've seen the info on their tests was just assuming that prep schoolers would have covered more and 'prepped' !!! She's just had her year 4 report and is at 4c. The fees would be difficult and tbh am hoping for some sort of scholarship! Is my head in the clouds? She's quite musical and artistic as well as fairly bright which is why I thought SWPS would be perfect... Maybe I'll just get a few revision books so she can practise a little if she wants to?

Two girls from my DD's state school are going there this year (Yr 7)

One lives next door. They are paying full fees as far as I know. The other girl got a bursary. Not sure how. Initially she didn't and then a few weeks later she did!

Cece, that's quite encouraging. She's only just going into year 5 so no immediate panic. If it's meant to be and all that! I did really like the atmosphere there when looking around...

can anyone tell me where the majority of girls attending this school live?? Don't want to visit a school, like it, then realise i'm miles away from friends etc ! Bus routes on the site seem to come mostly from north and west of school, whereas i'd be south.... thanks...

I know girls there from Windsor and Ascot areas.

ClaireBunting · 11/07/2012 17:28

They come from all over.

There are definitely coaches going to Camberley, Woking etc.

A lot of girls also arrive by train, as the station is just across the road.

You are absolutely right to put getting there high in your check list. Even if you are happy to drive a Y7 child in, you may not feel the same way when they are in Y11 or sixth form.
