DD (yr 5) has decided that she would like to take the entrance exam for Altrincham Grammer School for Girls. I have just checked and the entrance exam is in September! Advice needed on home tutoring & recommended tutors/ websites /resources etc for passing the entrance exam.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Bookshops for bond books in vr, non vr and maths and practice NFER papers. The school used to also sell the practice papers direct, not sure whether that still applies.

elevenplusexams.co.uk does what it says on the box. They have forums split by region so you can be sure that your post will attract the attention of parents who have direct knowledge of the school.

My SIL went there many moons ago and she speaks highly of it so good luck.

Learn to spell Grammar?

Start with the Bond papers ages 9-10 then move quickly onto 10-11+ over the early summer. Then NFR Nelson past papers, one of each each week. If she isn't getting over 75% start to moderate her expectations. And whatever you do, don't give her the summer holidays off, she needs to be working.

Oops, thank you BletchleyBlush Oh the shame - I have an A Level in English! A question about the NFR Papers - Are the 4 papers in one pack harder than the multi pack?

The four paper packs contain the same papers as the ones in the multi packs, so make sure you don't duplicate. I think there are 8 of each paper in total now, there used to be only four but they brought out a second four a year or two ago. I bought the numbered multipacks, 1-8.

Maybe you don't need to do all 8 but IMO you need to do at least 4, under timed conditions. I assume you live near enough to get a place? I wouldn't put a child through the preparation if I weren't serious about them going to the school
