How on earth do you manage to get your DC into an oversubscribed school?

Due to a change in circumstances, we are moving to the LB of Sutton. I have four schools that I would like DD to go to, all have massive waiting lists.
We (that is she and I) moved from abroad, bought a house and got her into a feeder school for the oversubscribed school she was due to start in September.
DH was unable to find a job locally so we hare moving to London.
I went down for two days and stayed with a lovely MNer (thanks frank) and tried to find a house to rent.
Unfortunately, there were very few. I have got one, all that is needed is contracts signing. DH is still abroad so it will have to be done by email.
The point is HOW the actual fuck does one go about getting into a decent school at this late point in the year?

Good luck Ripi - although remember if you are applying to a VA school, the supplementary forms need to go to the schools.

Good luck

My SIL is in WP and her girls went to Holy Cross. They were all v happy with it and.both now at uni. May be worth a look though I know nothing about entrance criteria etc.

Thanks for that Ivy. i didn't even see that one. I took the forms to our LA on Tuesday or Wednesday and sent the supplementary forms off to the relevent schools.
It's just a question of waiting now.

What are good reasons to put on CAF for Grammar Schools, R.C ( like Coloma) , Langley P for Girls , Archibishop Tenison's C.E or Hayes?
Thanks.

To be honest it does not matter what you put. The admission criteria for the school is what matters and under what category your child will fall. Obviously for a grammar school achieving the required level in the test is the priority.
If the school or LA took any notice of what was said then they would be failing the admission code requirements. The only time they are appropriate is if you are highlighting something around a criteria. So if the admission criteria had a social and medical criteria then you would be saying what the issue was and referring to the other evidence that you were submitting.
