Just looking at buying a house but slightly concerned re catchment for fab secondary school
The house is 1.3miles and would have got in the last 3 years with catchment going up to
1.56
1.47
1.42
Would you say that 1.3 is a pretty good bet that we should be ok.not sure on birth rate(can you find out)and obviously siblings get priority.
Don't want to risk not getting in as the alternative is not good.
Thanks

Thanks for all the info tiggytape.i would be applying for a place next year.i know last years figure was on actual selection date.it actually went up to 1.64after appeals and people not taking up places.there are 2 very good schools but the other one is church school so lots of people go for that one(having attended church for 2 years)there are also a couple of private schools which people decide on.not sure if I can take the risk as don't cope particularly well with stress.
It has just turned into an academy but not really sure what that means or how it changes things.
Thanks again

Write to the school and ask. Town primary is over subscribed, but the rural primaries and DDs secondary have places and will have for several years to come.

A secondary ought to have a good idea of numbers in it's feeder primaries.

If they can't be bothered to give a helpful reply it tells you all you need to know.
