Does everybody's DC need to sit exams in Full Uniform like mine? IMHO I think it's a bit mean, my DS would love to just wear his comfortable Chino's and a T-Shirt Confused

Hi. I think it is pretty standard at most schools - it is at ours. I'm glad it is otherwise DD would be stressed sorting out what clothes are trendy and cool! ....even for an exam...

onadifferentplanet · 10/05/2012 11:02

Ds wears uniform and i have no problem with that. Agree with Hellsbells, the girls (and some of the boys!) would be worrying more about how they looked and less about the exams. Plenty of time for own clothes when the exams are over.

trish391971 · 10/05/2012 11:05

Yes I guess your right really, I am just thnking because when I sat my exams many moons ago in Ireland it was standard to wear our own clothes. True he would probably want more clothes and I already got stung for £300 "Summer Wardrobe" a few weeks ago :)

Nope its uniform here and was for both dh and I, at very different schools back in the day. Also my brother sister and I all went to different schools and all wore uniform. never heard of it before to be honest.

EdithWeston · 10/05/2012 15:06

Uniform.

startail · 10/05/2012 15:13

I don't know, DDs only in Y9. uniform I guess because exam modules are scattered all over the place.

We didn't do any external exams until after our offical last day of school so wore our own clothes, but that was not long after the dinosaurs died outGrin

seeker · 10/05/2012 15:15

Uniform. And a good thing too !

mollymole · 10/05/2012 15:17

I would expect uniform, it could psychologically make it appear 'just another school day' and leave one less thing (what do I wear today) to think about.

GrungeBlobPrimpants · 10/05/2012 15:33

Uniform here. As I have a dd this means that there will be no pre-exam stress over what to wear/I wore that top for English, so I have to wear something different for History etc etc

SecretSquirrels · 10/05/2012 15:44

Uniform.

sue52 · 10/05/2012 16:13

uniform

Loshad · 10/05/2012 21:47

Uniform both where i teach, and at the 2 different secondary schools my dcs go to.

seeker · 11/05/2012 07:42

Does anyone know why? Dd's been told it's the exam board rules, but that can't be right.

She's also been told that if she goes into school for any of the voluntary revision sessions she has to wear uniform to those too- even if it only means popping in for half anchor. And she has to wear uniform for her 10 hours of art exams.

BeingFluffy · 11/05/2012 08:19

I don't see the problem tbh. They are still year 11 until the exams finish and surely have done exams all through school wearing uniform. It would just throw up all sorts of security issues and at my DDs school at least they are fairly strict about what they can and can't wear for mufti days and obviously don't want to start sending girls home for wearing unsuitable clothes.

senua · 11/05/2012 09:32

Another vote for uniform here.
I want the DC to subconsciously think "it's a work day / must have my head screwed on".
I don't want them to be wearing "dress down / chill out / relaxed" clothes.

mummytime · 11/05/2012 09:39

Ours wear Uniform until the end of year 11, then it's what you feel comfortable in. Admittedly they then go on to sixth form wear which is pretty scruffy, but comfortable not too trendy.

FIFIBEBE · 11/05/2012 10:27

Mine is in uniform upstairs doing last minute Maths revision.

trish391971 · 11/05/2012 10:48

Yes he has gone off in his uniform to get last 2 hours revision at school before Maths Exam!! Best to luck to all DC today and for the rest of this Exam period, my baby is all grown up:)

Another uniform one here.

However, the uniform is now so washed out, tatty etc that it hardly counts as formal!

IdontknowwhyIcare · 11/05/2012 13:47

Oh gosh yes, Gnomedeplume. Ds uniform shirts (3 of them) are grey, too small, covered in ink and woodstain. Sigh. Always in trouble for not keeping his shirt tucked in. Trousers too short but with a tatty bit from where they were too long. Cant wait for new uniform in September.

FIFIBEBE · 11/05/2012 18:01

White shirts covered in paint from the last minute rush to get all the art stuff finished. Don't care though.

GrimmaTheNome · 11/05/2012 18:05

I'd guess they work a bit better if they're in their 'workwear'.

empirestateofmind · 11/05/2012 18:07

Uniform here too. Even if they just pop in to the library for 10 mins they must be in uniform.

mindgone · 12/05/2012 23:37

My DS told me that a girl once went to an exam wearing a bikini, and distracted all the boys!! So uniform ever since! Think it might be a fairy story!:)

oopsi · 13/05/2012 13:46

Uniform and in the 6th form too
