Does anyone know which schools offer GCSE mandarin?

Looking state or independent in Surrey/East Sussex/Berkshire/Hampshire/Dorset/Wiltshire/Somerset/Devon area.

TIA

Highdown school in Reading.

If your DC already speaks/writes it (as opposed to wants to study it) then many schools now will offer to put students in for those languages even if they only have the one entry. How much exam support they give though, I am not sure.

I suspect that you are looking for the study, but just wanted to mention this in case it was relevant.

They know the subject, and are currently learning it, but not taught at GCSE level.

Thanks for those.

Just beware that GCSE Mandarin is suposed to be ridiculously easy for native speakers and very hard to get an A for non-native speakers.

Westgate School in Winchester have 20 places for those wishing to take Mandarin. It was first offered 3 years ago and restricted to the brightest children. Last September everybody who applied got in Grin

Do you mean West rather than East Sussex looking at the other counties mentioned. As Millais (all girls) in Horsham is a language specialist school with Mandarin offered at GCSE.

Would Surrey stretch up to Dulwich? Lots of Mandarin taught there (all year 7&8 children) and quite a lot go on to GCSE.

The Piggott School, which is a state school in Wargrave, Berks, does Mandarin GCSE.
