Wondering...What would you say are the main differences between both schools?

sorry to post again but...Are there any W and T parents willing to share their thoughts on the two schools? Are they the same? DS will already be sitting other IND and GS exams, he's the type that gets worried/stressed about the whole 11 plus thing, so DH and I would like to keep exams to a minimum and have him try only one of the two, W or T. Any pointers on how to choose between them? Thanks!

That's ok. Found the old W and T posts, full of info, I guess still relevant.

Hi hardboiled - after exhaustive discussion of exams, interviews, admissions, I guess this topic has gone off the boil till next year. The schools are very different but because they are geographically close and part of the same Foundation, most boys sit both. Mine sat only Trinity, as he liked the modern environment and we had a very good experience at Open Day. However, the more 'public school' environment at Whitgift might appeal more to you and your DS. You should definitely visit and get a feel for which you prefer. By the sounds of things, this year it was slightly harder to get in to Trinity than Whitgift. Generally Trinity tends to place more emphasis on music, Whitgift on sport (but they are both v strong in both these areas). The atmosphere is different though, so I think you should base your decision on that. It's wise to keep exams to a minimum.... Kids get burnout and the pressure is ridiculous as it is. I don't think there is any point in putting your child in an exam for a school he has no intention of going to. The grammar school exams are particularly stressful because of the herding that inevitably occurs with such high numbers, and the palpable parental anxiety exacerbated by the queue! Good luck with the process.

Thanks so much Asterisk. DS is musical, not at all sporty. We should visit both. Yes, we don't want him to sit too many exams, he's a worrier and already showing signs of stress a year earlier! Thank God the grammar ones are in sept, months ahead, so everything is forgotten by Jan, she hopes naively.
