Hi, my DD has just got her January modular results back and in says Level: GCSE/B then goes on to say the mark and the Equiv. grade - what does the /B mean? Thanks.

What subject and Exam board is it?

Some have different specifications for the same subject and might use different letters of the alphabet to denote this.

It's the specification. Some boards do two specs if you google the board and subject/spec (AQA History Specification B) you'll see the difference between the two. One might have coursework for example.

For example, in French when I was teaching GCSE a few years ago, there was a different spec for submitting coursework vs taking the writing exam paper.

Yup, it's the spec. for example you have RE A, B and C in RE!

Thanks so much for your very helpful replies - "Equiv" is the important bit I guess!! DD did very well, little and often seems to work with revision method! Thanks again. Smile
