Catholic schools for non Catholics

our daughter is going to our local Catholic school in sept. We are Christian. The relatives are not exactly happy (very anti faith schools) - one has mentioned the guilt which is gradually piled onto kids in Catholic schools (I'm assuming she means sin, confession, hail Marys and all of that) . I didnt get that impression AT ALL when I visited. It was a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Also I dont think they will be learning about other religions as the RE isnt inspected by OFSTED but by the diocese? Is that right? Any views?

we think we've made the right choice but I'm just getting some facts together....

Depends on the popularity of the school. There should be info on the school or local authority website about how places were allocated in previous years, or else you can put in a freedom of information request if there's not, or ask in your local Mumsnet forum or on local social media.

Our local Catholic secondary isn't very religion heavy. They refer to Saints and scripture passages in newsletters and assemblies, and have the occasional Mass, but other than that, it's just like any other school community.
The only thing that might be of concern to people outside the faith is that R.E. is compulsory at GCSE level at the school. I appreciate other Catholic secondaries may not have that requirement, but it is at ours.
