GCSE Spanish Oral Exam

My DD has come home from school in a blind panic as she found out her oral exam is March 22nd - only a month away! She's only been learning Spanish for two and a half years, and she's in year 10, but the teacher did assure us at parents evening last November that she'd be fine and should get a top grade :)

She's a born fretter my DD (unlike her older brother, who's self confidence was frankly quite wearing) and I don't want her to crumble because of this...

Does anyone have any pointers of good online resources we can use to help her with this particular part of the exam?

Get her a friendly 6th former who has recently done the exam and do half an hour a day. My DS went from an E in mocks to an A in the exam at AS last year with this. £5 per session!

That's a good idea Moominmammacat, and she does have plenty of opportunity to speak Spanish (we live in Spain lol) but it's a bit tricky as most of the other kids are Spanish or have lived here all their lives whereas she has only been here for two and a half years.... they tend to be a bit too advanced for her! I was hoping she could use some online resources specifically to deal with the demands of the GCSE exam.

Do you know the exam board? My DD is doing AQA and the oral exam for her has basically consisted of her preparing the answers to some questions given by the teacher in advance and then learning them to recite on the day! She has never been given more than a week's notice.

If you are able to answer the questions to a good standard and have a good memory it is really quite easy.

She's doing Edexcel and has also had to prepare a presentation and some answers, but to get a high mark, the examiner will ask unprepared questions to see if the candidate has the comprehension and ability to talk in Spanish without just memory and reciting of prepared answers. I wondered if there were any on line resources people had used to give tips on how to handle this?

I'm probably being a neurotic mum as the teacher seems quite happy with my dd's ability... just don't want to see nerves spoil her chances. She has always been a well organised and focused learner who needs to feel she's covered every eventuality in her preparation for exams otherwise she gets in a spin about things. Plus there's a certain amount of pressure taking the exam with her cohorts who are all bilingual Spanish/English!
