Offers Day 1st March 2012

Anyone else feeling like we do about the impending Offers Day?

Not at all a foregone conclusion that DS will get into any of first five choices (all selective, two 11+ passes, one 11+ result due this coming week) so rather up in the air.... Sixth choice is okayish but DS has talked it down to the point that he is now desperately hoping it's not his one and only choice! Otherwise DS is being quite mature about considering that he could end up at any of the schools and is already thinking about which friends from primary school he is likely to stay in touch with etc.....

It all feels a bit as if life is on hold till 1st March.....

BLU...that sounds like most the parents at my school, i have a catholic school opposite and its a brilliant school , ( but i never put it down nor would i) but your right in london they do avoid the truth and look like they can put really good schools far away

Popoozle · 29/02/2012 17:34

I think we are midnight here too Viva. At least we were 4 years ago when waiting for DS1's offer. This time the website & e-mails simply say "1st March" Confused.

For those of us in Surrey . Found this on Surrey website

admissions booklet

and from that booklet ...

When and how will I be notified of the outcome of my application?
If you live in Surrey and you applied online you will be sent an email giving you the outcome of
your application during the evening of 1 March 2012. You will also be able log on to your application
to view the outcome during the evening of 1 March 2012. If you applied online but have not been
offered your first preference school you will also be sent a letter by first class post on 1 March 2012
which will give more information regarding the decision and what you might do next.

Avantia · 29/02/2012 17:41

OK next question when does 'evening' start ? Grin

5pm when all Surrey office bods go home ?

That's quite clever, sending the e-mails in the evening. People will have no choice but to sleep on it before phoning & might, possibly, be a bit calmer than they would be 5 mins after reading the e-mail.

Avantia · 29/02/2012 17:52

Should send it on a Friday evening - that would be really cruel - we would have the whole weekend to fester ...Grin

BeattieBow · 29/02/2012 17:52

am also waiting for tomorrow - gutted to see that I have to wait until the evening (also London). Really hope we get the first choice school, but second choice is also good (and that's where dd1 wants to go).

v nervous.

madgirl · 29/02/2012 17:54

are you going to sneak on to the website alone or with the family in tow? I can't make up my mind what to do. if it's not the news dh and i want then praps i would be better looking alone, and then getting myself together to tell ds1. what's everyone else doing?

theITgirl · 29/02/2012 17:54

I am joining you all, who are nervous. I am as well, but no reason to be as we live very close to our first choice.

Voidka · 29/02/2012 17:55

I dont even know how I will found out. With DS's primary admission I got an email overnight, but I dont know if Nottinghamshire doe the same with secondary.

bigTillyMint · 29/02/2012 17:57

We should all know in 24 hours folks!

Blimely I have to go through it again next year with DS2 - although hopefully sibling rule will apply - aslong as we get what we want this year !

Cat2405 · 29/02/2012 18:12

Wise words, CustardCake.

thegreylady · 29/02/2012 18:24

Another miserable recipient of Herts email[well ds and dd-i-l] cant believe we have to wait till so late tomorrow to hear. The only one not in a state is dgd!

gazzalw · 29/02/2012 18:24

Good luck to those of you who get a midnight (or just after) result.... Maybe bucks fizz and croissants/pains au chocolat etc... would be a more fitting party for you....

It maybe a party in two halves Wink

DD has just remembered its tonight. So now she says she can't/won't sleep and wants to stay up. Obviously I'm not letting her but she will be hard to get off to sleep tonight.

Secondly she wants to be the one to find out so I'm under instructions that I'm not allowed to find out at midnight. Yeah, right.

madhairday · 29/02/2012 18:49

Just found you all. Also have mounting nerves here and will be emailed at 6pm tomorrow apparently and then will be able to log on and find out the result for DD. Had a scared moment where I couldn't find my login details but found them in an obscure email file. Phew. Nerve wracking this business isn't it??

I'm terrified we'll be given our third choice (last choice) as it is apparently now merging with another school and it will all be a complete mare for a few years. Would love her first choice which is a selective grammar, but second would be good too.

Good luck to any finding out tonight!

bossboggle · 29/02/2012 18:58

Good luck to everyone who is waiting for a place on March 1st!! I was fortunate - all of mine got into the school of their choice about 6 miles from where we live - wouldn't send them to the local comp - not good enough!! The last of mine is about to leave school so we waiting for GCSE results etc etc etc. Hope you are all celebrating tomorrow night, I'm waiting with my neighbour as she is waiting for a place for her son at the school my children went to. Smile Best wishes to all of you out there who are waiting nervously. I remember what it was like!!

gazzalw · 29/02/2012 19:02

Thanks Bossboggle for your words of encouragement.....

I guess there will be midnight posting tonight and some tired bunnies tomorrow.....

Meanwhile here we're on the Wine already....! Do join us please!

Goodluck to everyone waiting. Don't panic if its not what you wanted. DS1 didn't get his first choice straight away and eventually was offered a place off the waiting list 3 days before our appeal.
