Mock Results

How much do Mock results contribute to predicted grades in Year 11?

They are supposed to be able to reach one higher grade in June apparently.

Physologically though, I think they are far more important for some. You have those that think they can breeze through their GCSE's without much revision and get a wakeup call, when they see their mock results.

However, you also have those that get great results, then think it's OK to kick back!

DD , I hope, is one of the former, who will get a kick up the backside! Grin She's doing her mocks next week and results day is 25th.

Physologically??? What's that then? Hmm Obviously, I mean phsycologically!!

My DS has got some of his results back; he got a D in English Lit but all the CA's he has done, he has achieved A and A's. How much will the D affect him? He did good in the English Lang though, he got A with 1 mark of an A. Science he got a A and in maths a D. He has got C's and B's in his progress reports though. How bigger impact will these D's cost him with predicted grades and applying to his school's sixth form? you need 6 A*'s to C's to enter with Eng and Maths... How much of my DS's previouus work will be taken in consideration?

If he got Ds in the mocks, but these do not chime with previous results, then I seriously doubt that they would predict lower than a C.

However, he'd better learn from this to make sure he doesn't get a D in the real thing!

if your DS is getting A's and A* shouldnt you be asking him why he did worse in the mocks? if there is a genuine reason why he didnt do so good maybe you should think about suggesting a different sixth form or college? if he just didnt try then hopefully that has given him a wake up call, if he isnt getting C's or above in mocks but his teachers thiink he could do better then he should be ok :) hope he does ok, DD got A and B in mock english and B in mock maths and A in german, she is a happy bunny!

I agree with Mumstoast. Try and get under the mock results and find out whether he should be thinking of applying to two sixth forms (if allowed - we are) to cover both eventualities. At the end of the day, what will really matter is his actual grades, so it is worth covering both bases if there is a chance he might need to access the second option.

My daughter is applying to three due to course competition.
