Child not knowing anyone at New Secondary school

We have opted for a school where none of my son's friends will attend ( or very few). Has anyone any experience of this and how did their child cope.

madabout - that's exactly right - learn from others and adapt to your own . Sorry to say it but I had to pack dd off to school today in tears. She moved up with only 2 friends (well one really, in that she doesn't get on with one of them). But it's possibly slightly different in that virtually everyone at her new school only knows a handful of people. One thing I would say is, do what you can to encourage new friendships - if they cling to old ones it can make things hard (like today for dd - old friend is ill and dd feels she has no-one to sit next to/have lunch with etc)
