We are looking at senior schools for my 11 yr olds son and we looked at Dauntseys school last Saturday. Its seems a really nice school and the facilities are good.

Any advice/thoughts/experiences greatly received.. . .
thankyou!

We live closish to it and we know people who send their children there, I haven't sent my DS there because we wanted full boarding and very selective and it is neither of these, but everyone I've ever spoken too seems happy with it. I believe its very unpretentious. If you looking for boarding I would have thought St Edwards Oxford is better. I believe it has a similar entry requirement at 13 and in a professional capacity I have had dealings with it. The pastoral care is excellent the sporting facilities are amazing and the children are very happy there. It is a bit further away but not an impossible journey if you live close to Dauntsey.

Had friends who sent sons there as day boys and they loved it. They did no rate the boardig side so highly and said it was difficult for Borders and day pupils to fit. Just their opinion though

My daughter (15yrs) and son (13yrs) have both been boarders at Dauntsey's since age 11; they both love it and we love it too.The lower school boarding is mixed and is in an old manor house, away from the main school site. There is a great family atmosphere there and activities are organised every weekend, and each alternate weekend there is a trip out, but The Manor is set in a partly wooded area with it's own mini golf course and tennis courts and children can also borrow bicycles. My daughter however liked it even more when she moved up to the main school site as they have more freedom to make use of the facilities on-site, swimming pool, gym, music department, attend music productions, drama productions and lectures.
We have been very pleased with the school, academically, pastorally and with the wide provision of clubs and societies andrhe opportunity to do Duke of Edinburgh. Our children have both had good friends, some boarders and some day pupils. Boarding is full but flexible at weekends and some pupils go home and some stay in, although our sob prefers to stay in school with his friends now!
We love Dauntsey's and chose it because it is very well rounded, unpretentious and both the children and us really liked it when we first looked around :)
