Creationist faith schools?

I'm not a religious person but I do encourage my children to be open minded.
I have just received the application for my sons secondary school in September 2012.
There isn't a great choice of schools as the money that was meant to invigorate the schools in the area has been taken away there is a C of E comp which is the school his primary is a feeder for or there is one a bit further away which is falling down but not a church school, however there seems to be money available for a creationist church to build a multi million pound new school on the town's industrial estate.
Would you send your kids to a school where all the teachers believe that the earth is only 6000 years old and that dinosaur fossils are a test from god?

Schools are the only public ally funded institutions which have a requirement to be Christian.

imagine if they were hospitals that you had to prove you were a Christian before you could get your hernia done.

Or special benefits for unemployed Christians?

I see that OFSTED may have rated them excellent, is that what people mean by excellent? I thought it was a general opinion, sorry.

Or Muslim, seeker. There are 10 or 11 state Mulsim schools in the UK, IIRC.

seeker · 23/08/2011 11:29

I thought all the Islamic schools were fee paying?

Harrow has a state funded Hindu primary school! Which is expanding rapidly and there are plans to extend to secondary ed.

Interesting

So an Islamic school shouldn't favor one type of Muslim over another, but a Christian (Catholic or CofE) school can. Confused

Pootles2010 · 23/08/2011 13:10

Find it truly bizarre and wrong that any state money goes to any faith schools. Schools should be for all, and have no religious leanings whatsoever.

Thats the one thing I hate about the town we live in - primary school choices are CofE, Catholic, or private Confused

I agree. I think if you want a religious school you should pay for it.

But then I (my DC) benefit from going to great schools, which just happen to be faith schools. They would probably have got in anyway, but the fact that they are baptised obviously helped.

Oh, and DC1 gets a free bus pass because he is baptised. So I shouldn't complain really.
