dd1 is going up in September, had an interview with her year tutor last week and induction days in a couple of weeks.
I've started looking at uniform & it's getting closer!

just sat down to have a quick look at this thread and I got a text from ds... It said, just got on bus, have had a fantastic day...
:o :o am soooo pleased
Hope everyone else has had a great day too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/09/2011 17:09

Well done everyones dc (and you all too!)

The rain is a nuisance isnt it! Tomorrow looks wet for the midlands down, silly silly weather, esp when we all secretly want them to look smartish for the first couple of days at least.

Bellavita · 05/09/2011 18:03

Toffee, coats and secondary school are not a good mix! Grin

DS2's turn tomorrow. I think he playing down his nervousness.

Am glad all today's DC's had a good day.

Fennel · 05/09/2011 18:11

dd1 has had a good first day, she seems very happy with everything, and she enjoyed cycling there with a friend. The friend's mother insisted on cycling a few metres behind them just to check they were OK.

dd1 seems very calm about it all BUT last night I found her playing with her sister's Baby Bjorn doll, and dd1 has never played with dolls, not even as a small child, and today again after school she's playing with them again. Quite bizarre. I guess it's one way of coping with transition to big school.

CeliaFate · 05/09/2011 18:50

Great to hear all the dc got on well. My dd had a great day, I got an upbeat text to say she was just getting on the bus. She loved it. Thank the Lord! Grin

Phew. DS came home happy, but tired. I can't believe the day went so well.

Glad everyone else's children did so well today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/09/2011 19:37

Now wine! theres a good idea!

takeonboard · 05/09/2011 20:22

So pleased for you all and well done to your DC's, I am joining in the wine but DS doesn't start until tomorrow. Must stop drinking soon or I will oversleep!

whoknowswho · 05/09/2011 20:56

DS came home very happy with stories of the day. Real lessons and full school in tomorrow and he seems to be really looking forward to it. [phew] Will join in a glass of wine but only the one got to be up at 6 in the morning!!

LIZS · 05/09/2011 21:25

Survived induction day, got to negotiate the school bus tomorrow.

MaryBS · 06/09/2011 03:32

DD's turn today! Her and DS (9) were fighting like cat and dog yesterday, will be glad of the peace!

Bellavita · 06/09/2011 07:00

Typical! Bloody well peeing it down here, grrrr.

Right, off to wake the boys up. I made them go to bed a lot earlier last night - DS2 at 8.45 and DS1 9.45. Over the last 6 weeks their bedtimes have been shocking. Yesterday DS1 didn't wake up till 11.45am.

MaryBS · 06/09/2011 07:47

Raining here too! DD should be catching the bus any moment! She reckoned she was too hot in her coat, was going to go just in her fleece, till I made her put her raincoat on!

Bellavita · 06/09/2011 08:05

Boys will be off in 10 mins to get the school bus.

I don't make DS1 wear a coat - Tia not worth it (he is 14 and now Yr10). I won't do it to DS2 either. They either get wet or learn if they do put their coats on they will stay dry.

CoffeeIsMyFriend · 06/09/2011 08:52

hee hee the coat debate!

Good luck to todays starters. I have labels to do today and eye tests to take the DC for, bit of shopping and drop off some ironing.

Fennel · 06/09/2011 09:34

dd1 is quite happy cycling off in her cagoule, she is oblivious to peer norms or fashion (too much so, I worry for her on that count). but at least she doesn't get wet.

Ingles2 · 06/09/2011 09:39

pouring here again as well..... ds had his raincoat on, but was obviously highly embarrassed by it. At least he'll only be damp. Smile
So did anyone else have much homework last night?.. Ds had a fair amount but not as much as his friends class. And of course, the copying of the timetable into the planner.

Lucycat · 06/09/2011 10:50

DD1 has just left for her first day too - looking very smart and very excited - she still gets a bit squealy excited about things so she was very funny this morning. They don't go in until 11am - much to dd2's disgust who was in at 8.50am going into year 4.

I think I'm much less nervous than most of my friends as I teach in a secondary school so I know they will all be ok Smile I'm still glad it was my day off today so I can see her off - and make sure she can open the front door later!

ThePaxton · 06/09/2011 12:04

DS1 went in this morning. Was nervous and excited. We walked up with our neighbour and her daughter who is also starting today. He met a couple of his friends on the way in. He finishes at 3.30 and the day can't go quick enough.

Ingles2 · 06/09/2011 13:11

I got a text...Science is fab
That's all it said, bless him.Grin
Hope all is going well for all our newbies

maypole1 · 06/09/2011 13:14

oh god i feel sick dd went off this morning asked if his dad could take him he said he wont make any friends if i am crying all over the shop by the school gates

oh didn't have any detail about his going off he cant even say for sure if he looked nervous gurr
i not sure if he need his pe bag but made him take it any way hopefully they will be given lockers

he will be fishing at 2;15 and will be hone by 2;45 so i cant wait really
had a bit of trouble unlocking the door yesterday i really should have shown him that during the summer

dd was very philosophical about the whole thing really
he was just like well mum if i dont like it what can i do i will just have to make the best of things

btw got dd a pac o mac and loves it wearing it today on the way didnt want to get to school looking like a soggy lemon as he says

PandaG · 06/09/2011 13:17

DS enjoyed his day yesterday, has a couple of friends inhis class (but best mate in the other half of teh year so will never have lessons together, will join simialr clubs and have lunch together I think)

First piece of homework took ages, he was finding writing a real drag after nothing for so long. PE today and it is chucking it down, I can see I will have kit to get clean and dry overnight ready for tomorrow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/09/2011 13:54

For those who have them starting today - not long now before they are home :)

dd had tests on the computer yesterday - midyis? hadnt heard of them before. No homework although other yr 7 classes did.

PandaG · 06/09/2011 15:11

not heard of midyis, DS will be doing CATs shortly. I have heard of those, but not entirely sure what they are. Have information evening tomorrow night, so may find out then!
