Advice needed: should Ds stay in Uk for half term or come home to France?

I am in a dilemma. Ds1 is in the middle of his GCSE's, is due to start half term tomorrow and fly back on EasyJet to France. He has Maths GCSE on his return on Monday 6th June. This week has been a worry due to the ash cloud from Iceland and last Easter proved to be a nightmare getting him back to school after the Easter holidays when everything was cancelled, he arrived back 4 days later. If his return flight next Sunday is cancelled then he is in trouble with his exams and we face a huge bill driving him to the UK. Do we take the risk and bring him home or should he stay with my sister? She would definitely make sure he studied having had 2 daughters do GCSE's, A' levels and now her youngest has just finished Uni - so he wouldn't get away with much. What would you do?

I would leave him here in the UK and he will get lots of study time and know he can get back.

The problem with him coming home is that you'll be worried every day - even though there may in the end be nothing to worry about.

There seems to be more negatives to coming home on this occassion.

I agree Kez but although he is pretty cool with the idea of staying, he has no idea that my sister is more of a hard tasked than me, though she has never had boys to deal with!!.

Co-incidently his best friend from school actually lives only a few minutes away from my sister so that would be good for him. I just feel guilty not seeing him/ looking after him and supporting him.

You could pop over for a couple of the days, maybe?

Or keep in contact via MSN/chat/skype? I go away for weekend working six times a year and often my daughter catches me online to help with homework.

Dropbox is also good for sharing files of a decent size. Need a scanner and maybe a printer.

No I don't think I can go over unfortunately.

I'll give ds a ring an a bit, see if he is still happy with the idea and speak to my sister again as well.
