Dd has to do some work on various different medical ethical things. She's done euthanasia, abortion, blood transfusions (Jehovah's Witnesses)
Can anyone give her any more ideas? Struggling to get brain working tonight!

What about the cost of drugs/patents/big pharmaceutical companies? Would that count?

Or medical decision-making for adults with reduced mental capacity?

noblegiraffe · 09/03/2011 19:56

Animal testing for new drugs?

leafinthewind · 09/03/2011 19:57

Or turning away patients who are ineligible for NHS care?

leafinthewind · 09/03/2011 19:57

Or drug funding/NICE etc. What should the NHS fund in terms of price for extra months of life?

Confidentiality issues - eg teenagers seeking medical help without their parents' knowledge.

cuckooclock · 09/03/2011 20:22

Postcode lottery of treatment

Goblinchild · 09/03/2011 20:25

The argument that alcoholics and smokers etc shouldn't be given transplants if a 'better' candidate is also a match.

follyfoot · 09/03/2011 20:28

Who should decide whether a person has 'do not resuscitate' written in their notes (everyone, not just prem babies).

Should 'self-inflicted' illness and injury be treated free of charge (eg sports injuries, excess alcohol related injuries)?

Should patients who dont lose weight/give up smoking be treated?

Should embryos be used for research?

dsamm · 09/03/2011 20:37

the whole saviour sibling thing?

paying drug addicts to have contraceptive implants? fertility treatment for women over 60?

posey · 09/03/2011 20:49

This is my favourite:

Should a 75-year-old woman be allowed to get pregnant and give birth to a child? Smile
