Felpersham Cathedral School

Can anyone help? DH was planning in sending DD and DS (twins) to Mercer College, but I am unsure whether boarding would suit them, particularly DS.

We live about 10 miles from Felpersham and are considering the Cathedral School - do any MN'ers have any experience of it? Exam results seem good, but are the facilities and extracurricular opportunities as good as an Independent School?

Also worried about entrance exams, DH has arranged extra tutoring, but concerned about DS, particularly in Maths. Should we keep the option of Mercer College open, and what other independent schools in the area can be considered? Other local state schools are not up to standard, DC's will go to Borchester Green over my dead body.

take off, and nuke the site from orbit....

MrsGuyOfChristmasBorn · 11/12/2010 18:51

Pixie , yes, yes yes - Pip's voice - aaaaaaaaargh

seeker · 12/12/2010 07:39

Isn't it odious cousin Daniel who goes to the Cathedral School? I thought odious cousin Pip went to Borchester Green despite her sainted grandfather's protestations.

I loved the snippet of converstaion between Jill and Lizzie

"What don't you wnat them to go to Borchester Green?

"Lots of reasons"

LondonMother · 12/12/2010 11:19

Yes, Pip went to Borchester Green and Daniel (who as far as I know isn't musical at all) goes to the Cathedral School. Pip plays clarinet and piano.

Love this thread!

LadyLapsang · 12/12/2010 14:25

I don't think Borchester Green has a sixth form so Pip moved to college for her A Levels. Maybe Freddie will have to board if he doesn't pass the entrance exam for the Catherdral School.

Talkinpeace · 12/12/2010 16:52

maybe Pip's boyfriend will come back to collect Freddie?

LadyLapsang · 13/12/2010 23:13

Maybe if he swaps ice skating (Deck the Halls) for his practice papers he could be awarded a scholarship for rinkmanship....

TurkeyMartini · 13/12/2010 23:24

None of it really matters. Your family pile is almost certainly going up in flames at some stage over the holidays and then you'll have more pressing things to worry about. (disclaimer: speculative)

Did Nigel ever get around to checking the insurance properly last week, as he meant to?

LadyLapsang · 17/12/2010 19:37

Oh dear, I hear DS didn't do very well in the last maths practice paper; are you sure you shouldn't be tutoring over the Christmas break?

Breaking News - and you read it here first. That Wikileak bloke - eat yer eart out.

The clue woz there = Freddie. Wot did he do easily that others couldn't?

Learned his lines in the Panto, is wot.

So Rats and yoo-boo-sucks to orl of you who think that the Road to Success is numbered in 1-2-3 paving stones.

So, while Lily tries to hopscotch to the top of the boring academic ladder, our Freddie will be flying..

via the route of the high wire and possibly dressed in Pantomime Dame clothes praps, but I'm telling you, he's a Star in the Making.

And Grandma Julia will be beaming blessings of approval down on him.

Is this Reality, or is this just Fantasy?........

(yep! His other Celestial Backer will be cheering him on!!!)

GO FREDDIE GO!!!

Talkinpeace · 02/01/2011 21:42

But as Freddie is now the lord of the manor he needn't worry about tutoring and Lily needs to do well at maths so she can earn money to settle the bills.

seeker · 03/01/2011 00:08

Ah, no. Lily will have to give up all thought of education to stay at home and nurse Daddy. Which means tha Freddie can go off to wherever it was expensive school for the Thick Rich.

gingeroots · 03/01/2011 09:50

Mmm,Pip has to give up all thought of Uni to take over running farm and trying to raise funds to pay for costs trying to get David off manslaughter charges .

campion · 07/01/2011 11:32

That ' dead body' turned out to be your Dh's then, LoathsomeLizzieP?

They can both bypass the entrance exam on compassionate grounds now and get into FCS. There'll be a little nurturing group for the 'how the hell did he ever pass the exam' sub-section so Freddie'll be OK.

yotty · 07/01/2011 17:07

Can anyone remember when the dreaded exam is? Must be any day soon. Will it clash with the funeral?

mercibien · 09/01/2011 22:25

Darling loathsome,
so sorry about Nigel, but look on the bright side at least your 2 will be a shoo in now on compassionate grounds.

good luck with the funeral

You need to catch up with last night's episode, Jajas. Yes, they are going to the funeral and yes, they are still on course to take the entrance exams pretty soon.

Lizzie have you thought of Toby Young's free school? It sounds as if it is for parents just like you.

AlaskaHQ · 17/01/2011 13:28

How bad is poor little Freddie going to feel when he doesn't pass the exam to the school - letting down dead father, etc, poor little thing.

I will cry when it gets to that episode, which i am sure it will.
