Hi - Does anyone know how difficult the entrance exams are for City of London Boys and Northbridge House (NW1)? Have only just started the tutoring for my DS - had relied on the academy in Swiss Cottage opening but now it will be delayed for a year I am stuck. Because I wasn't planning on private sector I had no idea I should have started tutoring a YEAR ago! Help - anyone got any advice please? And does anyone know how hard it is to get into either of these two schools? Help much appreciated.

That is exactly what they are doing. NBH aren't stupid.

I've heard nothing but good things about it but it looses out to all the schools that go up to 18. You can sit on your offer from them until you hear from the others with no guilt. BTW we really like UCS. The integrate state school boys well and it is very good at pastoral care while providing excellent facilities and high standards.

I've been having the same thoughts, but it's now Feb 11, and these threads were Sept 10. What did hanette decide in the end? I'd love to know. I'm also keen on UCS and City and it's true that most kids take lots of exams so the figures are a bit skewed. Any info on preferences for UCS or City would be much appreciated. Or thoughts on Dame Alice Owen's.

My DS did 10+ at CLSB in Jan2010. We only found out about 10+ at the end of Nov2009 and spontaneously decided to give it a go mainly because he has a twin sister and I was dreading to have 2 kids going through exams at the same time. He also entered 10+ at Trinity of John Whitgift. My DH and I thoroughly disagreed on which school we preferred. According to DS the CLS paper was easier than Trinity's.He got through to interviews at both schools. The Trinity interview was a nice informal chat whereas the CLS interview was anything but.. he said he was bombarded with English and Maths questions and came out feeling quite bruised. I guess he was borderline and they were putting him to the test and he didn't pass. We were much more impressed with the selection process at Trinity where he now goes to. The 10+ was held at a different day than the 11+ and the head teacher seemed to be much more hands on. In the end it was good for us to be offered only one school.
