~We found our maths tutor by asking other parents at the school.

You could try looking in local papers for anybody advertising, there are a number of websites that tutors register with; the sites usually give details at to what the person teaches, to what level.

Or put a question on TES, there is a forum there for tutors, you may find one who is local to your area.

A few more suggestions;

-Google "maths tutor (your town)"
-Put a notice up in your local college/university.
-Ask the receptionists at the "other" secondary schools if any of their maths teachers tutor.

I recently wrote a blog post about maths tutoring tips which included the idea of setting objectives and getting feedback for each session.

Hope this helps Smile

I am a maths tutor. I have a website that pops up if you google 'maths tutor Bourne End' and I also get lots of pupils from www.personal-tutors.co.uk. It's free for parents (I pay them commission for each referral) and they did follow up my references/ and ask for a CRB check before they listed me. Hope this helps:)
