Licenced for 8, had 27 in the house. "At the time of her arrest she had 15 children aged under 12, 10 children under primary school age, and two children under the age of one in her care." Reported by parents who had spotted the woman doing the school run but without the kids she was being paid to look after. Wee ones left locked in the house, strapped in prams.

Very bland statement from the Care Commission promising lessons would be learned.

Police should also be trying to recoup the money this criminal woman has earned from her business. Poor kids.

I don't think the parents have covered themselves in glory here.

Myremoteislost · Today 13:38

I find it strange that none of the older kids said anything! Mine would definitely mention if there were 26 other children in a house, babies strapped into prams and toddlers crying under a table.

What a horrible thing to say when one of the parents are actually on this thread

What an absolute horrible comment. I live in this area and you’ve no idea what these parents have been through. Making such a disgusting comment when you have 10% of the information is vile. Do you really think that if any of the parents knew this was happening they would have allowed it? These parents have fought tooth and nail to get justice for what has happened. I’d be more concerned about your own parenting with that judgemental attitude being passed on to your children!

No, it’s not a disgusting comment. Anyone normal reading the article will wonder why parents had children coming back to them in soiled nappies, hungry, thirsty and crying at drop off and did nothing but keep sending them.

Agree. It is quite hard to make sense of.

I was a CM for 30 years, in England not Scotland. I always knew when Ofsted were coming, we were given the date a few days ahead.
I knew of a CM who then would get all toys and creative things her own children had done when younger out of a box and put out as if it was the Childminding childrens work.
She was a bloody menace and was reported by other CM's more than once. The reports were put down as malicious by Ofsted.
Finally she was asked why two of her charges were always asleep on the school run, as they were about 4 and a bit old to be having a nap and in a buggy. Her reply was it was the antihistimine they had to take that nade them sleepy.
The woman who asked knew their mother and asked her later why they were taking antihistime. The mother knew nothing about it. She called the police, the CM was arrested and charged with Child Endangerment. She got a Commuinity Order after pleading her usual Good Ofsted and Mental Health. It never came out that we had been reporting her for years.

Wow

This is why I would never sent my child to a childminder. There is simply not enough oversight. I’ve seen them out and about near us and generally I don’t like the whole setup either - you’re basically paying a stranger to look after your child in their house and have zero control really on how they do that, which other adults might be visiting, whether they have dogs, any of it. I’ve heard some absolute horror stories

Absolutely. I’m always so creeped out by them

Lots of kids cry at drop off and don't particularly want to be away from Mum and Dad.

So i wouldn't read too much into that.

Not really heard horror stories but I always feel weird by people putting all their trust into one person.

In a nursery you'd hope a bad egg would be weeded out, but nobody to weed out a bad childminder

Is there a reason why you only responded to one of the four things mentioned?

Stop lapping up sensationalist things you read on the news as fact. There is nothing factual in your statement that any of the parents sent them back after noticing these things and knew their kids were in a bad situation. Just because you’ve decided that’s what happened in your head based on things you’ve picked out of a news story, that doesn’t make it facts. Do you really honestly think any parent would send their kids continuously back to a situation that they knew was bad? That’s not what happened here. Bizarre to me that people on this thread think they are owed the details, there’s a reason the things that would explain a lot of how she allowed this to go unnoticed haven’t been released because it’s to protect the children involved. Doesn’t give you a right to judge people who have already been through the most horrific experience. Hope you feel better about yourself for being so judgement though.

i don’t want any details from you, I’m talking about an article I’ve read with others who’ve read it. I quite frankly have nothing to say to you

You replied to my previous comment and quoted me 😂 but now you have nothing to say because I’ve responded? Glad you’ve decided to keep your ridiculous opinions to yourself though.

I replied to your first comment before you revealed the fact you’re one of the affected parents and before you started repeating you don’t owe anyone any details. I thought you were objectively talking about the article, if you see what I mean. Had I known you’re not impartial, I would have refrained from engaging.

PruLeithsNecklace · Today 17:19

I can easily see how parents wouldn’t know anything was up immediately, you would reasonably assume she’d only have the number of children she’s allowed because she had a good reputation and to most people it would seem an unreasonable risk to take more purely from an insurance and reputational point of view, you wouldn’t be doing a headcount at drop off and the kids wouldn’t have known it was wrong because that’s all they’d ever known. Some kids do cry at drop off or come home thirsty, it wouldn’t immediately flag up that there was a problem.

Because one of mine, hated Mondays, I don't know why, but would have a tantrum on a Monday.

So i really wouldn't read too much into a kid not wanting to go to childcare.

I can't say either of mine came home dirty rtc
