Watsons for a gifted autistic child?

Looking for some opinions. I’m considering George Watsons for next school year. Daughter is going into year 6 and we are in process of moving up to Edinburgh from SE England. Daughter is exceptionally bright, high functioning autistic and has had considerable social difficulties at previous schools, so a fresh start for all
of us! I have had to move her from schools several times as they simply couldn’t meet her needs.
The provisions for autism at Watsons looks wonderful. Does anyone have any insight?

If she’s very bright and has had social difficulties it might be worth considering Heriot’s. A very academic school and a much smaller setting. Or if you would consider all girls, St George’s, which has a strong focus on the individual and extensive SfL/Pastoral.

Watson’s is very big. I have heard mixed opinions from parents who are divided on either the big size being excellent for friendships or it being a complete disaster.

My daughter's friend is at Watsons. Brilliant for a self-confident child who will jump into activities and clubs. Less so for others. It wouldn't be my first choice if I had considered private for my own autistic teenage daughter. It's really massive.

My ASD teen daughter is thriving there. The pupil roll at the school is high, but behavioural standards are high too which is all that really matters. There is calm in the classrooms and corridors. The other advantage in having a big cohort is that it increases the range of subjects that can be offered at higher etc. I wasn’t a huge Watsons fan before putting my child into the school but I absolutely cannot fault it.
