I am looking at booking a train from Edinburgh down to London. I need to travel over the bridge and the easiest way is using the bus which comes into Edinburgh from Ingliston Park and Ride and then through Corstorphine. I am just wondering how busy Corstorphine is these days for traffic in the morning? It used to be bad. I am pondering getting off the bus at Park and Ride and jumping on the tram to get to the Waverley end of Princes Street a bit quicker? I am looking at a train which leaves around 9 am from Waverley on a Friday.

Traffic is less busy on a Friday. The bus should stick to the timetable, there are plenty of bus lanes to avoid traffic. Just leave plenty of time to get your London train.

Friday morning aiming to be at Waverley before 9 should be fine. Though I think I would be tempted to take the tram. Corstorphine and Princes Street move slowly on the bus.

Assume we're talking the Forth Bridge? Do you mean you're coming over the bridge on a bus that goes via the park & ride or are you planning to park at Ingliston and then get the bus? If it's the later then note that you can't park overnight at Ingliston P&R. The tram is less prone to getting stuck in traffic or you'd be quicker if you can get a train over the bridge.

Thanks. Yes, I will be coming over from Fife. While train would be quicker, I am less than 10 minutes from the bus but 20/25 from the nearest train station. Not much when I am heading to London but the plan is to fly home and my husband will pick me up. It then becomes too difficult to get the car back from the train station. The bus stops at park and ride which is why I am thinking to get off and walk over for a tram.

which bus are you getting? I'd be more worried about traffic coming over the bridge than getting through Corstorphine but on a Friday morning there's a lot fewer commuters out.

The buses come over the old forth road bridge so they’re not caught in bridge traffic
