Suggestions for a 2 day solo retreat/break

I feel like I need a break. Would be happy to spend £500 (maybe more). Somewhere I can get to within maybe 3hours of Glasgow (by public transport, happy to fly/train/bus/taxi). Probably with some nature? Would go on my own and want to mainly be on my own but not feel weird about it. Would love a Nordic cruise or something like that but maybe something a little more low key to start me off. Would like it to feel like an adventure. Any ideas??

A few years ago I wanted an adventure so I took the plane from Glasgow to Barra. It's a tiny plane and you land on the beach. It was amazing! I then went across to Eriskay and stayed there for a few days. All totally doable by ferry and bus with a bit of forward planning.

@JollymonkeyI could do with this too.

How about train to Pitlochry and a stay at Fonab. Schloss Roxburghe looks good but I don’t know about public transport.

Thanks those are both good ideas! Will look into those a bit more!

Thought of another. Train to North Berwick and stay at the Marine or train to Troon and stay at the Marine. I think Troon is supposed to have the better spa but I think North Berwick is better location.

Moor of ranoch, beautiful isolation

What time of year would you be going? I wouldn't spend money on a solo rural holiday in the UK before spring, it's too cold & rainy to enjoy yourself (yes I have been to North Berwick in winter, it's baltic, and Eriskay is lovely but windy and chilly even in summer).

Iceland is a short flight from Glasgow, most people speak English and there are organised bus tours to see the amazing waterfalls & geysers or Northern Lights. Very easy on your own.

What would dinner alone be like there? It looks quite fancy and might feel a bit out of place on my own (otherwise would be ideal- and I appreciate it’s my own problem if I can’t manage a dinner by myself :) !

Thanks, I’ve been to the Marine and loved it although not sure I’d enjoy it so much on my own. I suppose on my own I might prefer less formal dining/street food or even just cooking myself if I was somewhere with facilities.

I’m loving all the suggestions! It doesn’t need to be a fancy stay somewhere though. It could be fairly rugged. Just needs to be comfortable.
