Does anyone find themselves politically homeless?

Hi

Does anyone else find them selves politically homeless come the may elections?

I can vote SNP, not after what they have done and continue to do to women. They education system is in tatters and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. Though I'm a long standing independence supporter, I won't support then at the cost of women.

Labour - they just follow the rule of Westminster, and not a fan of kier starmer.

Lib dem- nope.

Green's-nope

Torys- only one standing up for women but over all the country's in a shambles due to previous administrations decisions. Again they they their orders from main Westminster party.

Feel like just putting a big line through my paper 🙃

Would love is FWS formed a political party and all the women voted for them. Would be a big twos up to the SNP and the rest of them

It's very difficult, but I'll vote tactically to keep the SNP out. That may mean voting conservative. They're not going to gain control in Scotland (or in England either), and they do actually speak out against some of the disastrous decisions taken by the SNP. We need more of that. The state of the education system (a massive own goal, since Scotland used to have a great education system and it's been deliberately wrecked), the Scottish NHS, which makes cancer victims wait months before starting treatment, the cynical pretence that men can change sex, which our children are indoctrinated in at school, and all the rest of it, including the financial corruption at the top of the SNP. A lot of the mess that we're in was avoidable

Didn't know lib dems were fans of self ID. It's the reason I won't be voting SNP

Massive fans of self id. Ed davey is quite happy telling you that women can have penises. The Greens are just as bad, and Labour are dragging their heels over signing off the ECHR guidance because they don’t want to admit to their supporters that transwomen are men.

LoopyGremlin · 09/02/2026 21:43

I’ve no idea who I’m going to vote for. Have either voted SNP or Labour in past but can’t vote for either. No to Tories and hard no to Reform. Greens are totally bonkers and can’t see past their trans stuff. So Lib Dem or an independent?

Lib Dem’s are up to their eyeballs in the trans stuff. Which is a shame as I have always been a floating voter and they were my port in a storm.

Mishmosher · 10/02/2026 20:33

I usually vote tactically against SNP as I’m anti independence and anti self ID.

I do think they are a terrible government too. We have lots of problems in Scotland but they don’t seem willing to do anything about them at all.

Take the NHS and education. We spend loads on both - far more than England - but a lot of that goes on higher salaries rather than improved services. They had a big review of violence in education which resulted in a further review. Nothing was actually done. The extra benefits given in disability and child payments could be far more efficiently spent elsewhere to boost the economy, generate growth to raise tax take and improve public services as a whole, but no, that seems to be deemed too hard so they’ll just give the money away instead. It’s freebies, freebies, freebies while so many real issues get ignored.

And that recent vote to ban greyhound racing when we have no greyhound tracks in Scotland is parliamentary time wasting of the highest order. What the hell do they think they’re there for?

Ultravox · 14/02/2026 11:30

Absolutely in the same boat as you. I spoiled my ballot paper at the last election as I could not consciously vote for any of the parties.

Scaryscarytimes · 14/02/2026 11:45

So Peter Murrell, chief executive of the SNP for 22 years and married to Nicola Sturgeon until 2025, has now been charged with embezzling £459,000 of SNP money between 2010 and 2023, spending it on luxury cars, a campervan, makeup (?) and presents for his family and Sturgeon's. He's also charged with falsifying documents in an attempt to cover his tracks.
Per Wikipedia: "Murrell's wife Nicola Sturgeon became party leader and First Minister in 2015, bringing his role as chief executive under greater scrutiny. Nicola Sturgeon insisted that there was no conflict on interest in herself and her husband both occupying senior party roles, telling The Herald, "I've been deputy leader for years while Peter's been chief executive for 10 years. That's not been an issue that's given rise to any concern internally."

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 14/02/2026 13:51

I'm In Scotland too and I think if any of Scotlands people care about our kids and our future they will not vote for these utterly incompetent, corrupt and secretive bambots.
They cannot continue with this "big bad Tory dun it and ran away"
Nearly 19yrs of utterly inept government.
ENOUGH
For the 1st time in many years I am also left "homeless"

brunetteorblonde · 14/02/2026 13:58

Another politically homeless, really don't know who I will vote for, but I do feel that I must vote, may look at independents, it will certainly be a case of least bad.

Scaryscarytimes · 14/02/2026 14:09

I don't like any of the parties either, but I'll prioritise getting or keeping the SNP out. How else are we ever going to change things? I think we have to vote tactically.

guinnessguzzler · 15/02/2026 16:54

Yep, absolutely no idea how I will vote in May. I hate to say it but they really are all useless and the whole system is shit. I will try to vote tactically I think.

ScaryM0nster · 15/02/2026 17:02

Given it’s Scottish elections, I’m going for the approach of looking at the candidates rather than the parties.

Our current MSP is truly awful (regardless of party position, their approach to local issues is incompetent). Our local MP is excellent and if wasn’t labelled you couldn’t immediately tell which party they’re aligned to.

SpaceRaccoon · 15/02/2026 22:43

I'll be voting Tory. I'm on a rural area getting badly impacted by renewables and the Tory MSP and local councillors have been miles ahead in standing up for local residents. So an easy decision for me as I can't stand SNP or Labour anyway, would get banned on my opinion of the Greens and have little desire to vote Reform.

weegielass · 18/02/2026 11:08

I'd vote Tory if they had a chance, which I don't think they do, as they know what a women is.
Labour - too many U turns, sitting on the fence, have let down disabled people.
SNP - never ever ever
Greens - batshit
Reform - say what many people want to hear, but no clear plan (similar to the SNP on independence tbh)
Alba - they are done
Lib Dems - as batshit as the greens

I may vote tactically as in my constiuency its likely to be labour or snp, so I guess Labour it is.

LadyDanburysHat · 18/02/2026 11:15

I am the same as many here. No idea who to vote for. Never SNP as they take it as a vote for independence and are erasing women. Can't even tell you who the Labour leader is as they are so far under the radar. Won't ever vote conservative as I am from working class mining background. Reform, hell no. Lib dems and Green barely cross my mind.

SpaceRaccoon · 18/02/2026 13:41

It's still worth voting Tory in Scotland as it's PR not FPTP.

Gallusoldbesom · 18/02/2026 13:49

I’m in the same position. I won’t vote for any party that can’t say what a woman is/believes in biology, and I can’t bring myself to vote Tory and absolutely would never vote Reform. I’ll vote for Ash Regan on the list but probably won’t vote for a constituency MSP, first time ever. What a time to be alive.

Fundays12 · 18/02/2026 21:56

Same here the SNP stance on woman is shocking. They will not get my vote.

The uncontrolled immigration problem across the whole of the UK is not acceptable. We dont have enough money, housing, services and infrastructure for our own people but yet are letting thousands come here and expecting the tax payer to fund more for them than they get themselves. Labour have made a horrendous mess and the lib Democrats just dont seem great. Reform is a no go to me. Restore Britain have caught my interest but we dont have a local MP for them yet.

YellingAway · 18/02/2026 21:59

Same here. I have always voted but really no idea who to vote for.

I do want SNP out. We need to move on from indy ref and focus on the real issues but they never will.

Also want to vote for a party/candidate who knows what a woman is.

Scottishskifun · 18/02/2026 22:05

I've always been politically homeless but I tend to vote for whichever local candidate makes the most amount of sense. If I don't like any of them then I vote for the independent candidate (as long as they aren't too radical) as they need 600 votes to get their fees back which they pay themselves.

Bit like spoiling a ballot but actually it helps someone a little bit.

celticnations · 18/02/2026 23:00

Not now.

Not with the possibility of a Reform PM.

SNP/SNP for me & this time "AYE!" for independence.

USSAthena · 18/02/2026 23:05

I too am politically homeless. Last Scottish election I researched how to properly spoil my vote and did that.

This time I might vote Labour.

Out of all my MSPs though the best in terms of communicating and replying to me (not in a copy and paste format either) has been the list Conservative MSP. That MSP has been a very hard worker and dedicated to the constituents.

OllyBJolly · 19/02/2026 07:23

I'm beginning to change my mind. I've always thought no matter what, I would never vote Tory. However, watching Holyrood debates I see that it is only the Tories who are challenging the Scottish government and really holding them to account. I think @SpaceRaccoon 's point is valid.

And do you know what else is impressing me? They are the only party in the house where the majority of their MSPs speak without reading notes obviously written by somebody else. (Caveat - I don't watch a lot of debates but the SNP members don't seem to be able to speak at all without reading a script. They come off script and can hardly put a sentence together)

Mishmosher · 19/02/2026 08:05

One of the only entertaining parts of Holyrood is when the SNP MSPs pick up the wrong script, and read out the answer to the totally wrong question, oblivious as to what they are doing.

I do wonder whether there might be more intelligent people willing to stand as SNP MSPs if they were allowed to think independently from the party. They vote as a monolithic blob, banned from using their own Brian’s and expressing their own opinions on matters. It must be very frustrating, esp when led by gormless idiots who think men can be women etc.
