I have a 5yr old child who is tube fed and has cerebral palsy. Considering moving to Scottish Borders and wonder if anyone has any experience at all with Borders Hospital and OT service, dietitian, community medical care etc I currently live in England and we have a very good medical team around us and I'm wondering if it is the same in the borders?

It does happen routinely that people are sent to Edinburgh for certain hospital appointments and treatments.

I am sorry I don’t know about your specific services. Edinburgh in pretty accessible from most places in the borders so it’s not a bad “worst case scenario” it just perhaps depends how likely it is for the services you need and how frequently you access them.

Have you thought about the education provision for your child in the borders?

I found this. Might be worth a look. But a lot of stuff will be sent to or dealt with at the children's hospital which is on the southern outskirts of Edinburgh so at least the right side of Edinburgh and 40 minutes to an hour from the borders depending where you live.
Bare in mind health care in Scotland is pretty awful in some places. Very underfunded especially primary care. It's very pretty though.
