Hello, we are looking to move to the area and know a bit as my parents currently live on the outskirts of Inverness. Just wondering if there were any hidden gems or what people suggest as good places to walk with some play areas/ activity trails. We have been to Abriachan and another I can’t recall the name off

Our favourite is to walk along the tow path at the canal, especially at Dochgarroch where the canal meets Loch Ness. It's fun to watch the hapless sailors go through the canal locks ! Any part of the canal is nice to walk along. Seaport Marina has a lovely walk to the Moray Firth. And too far either.

Thank you is that the walk where you join by Jacobite? We have done that a few times and it’s lovely. We have been on loads of walks with the dog but just wondering if there are any good play areas for kids around

https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk should be helpful.

Thank you it’s mainly play areas I’m after. We have done a lot of dog walks to some beautiful areas but just wondering if there is any with a decent play area with or without dogs. We have a few nice ones where we currently live so hoping to find some up there as a replacement. Can be up to 1hr away.

Ahh I see. I’m not sure if any of these will fit the bill but you could check out Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, the splash pad at Nairn beach, the MacDonald hotel in Aviemore, Landmark near Aviemore, Whin Park in Inverness, Farm Ness near Dochgarroch, Dalmore Farm Shop near Alness.

A bit far out but Garbh looks lovely. I’ve only been to the play park with dc but there’s a walk through the woods and along the river and I really want to do it one day.

Walks we used to like with kids (dc are all grown up now) were Reelig Glen, neear Kirkhill, and Rogie Falls out past Contin. Neither have play areas, but nice nature things to look at.
Evanton Wood has a lovely wee play area which was a big hit with some visitors we had from the US with children.
If you want an outdoors play area have you tried Farm Ness, on the A82 between Inverness and Dochgarroch? You could combine it with a canal walk afterwards for the dogs.
Otherwise beaches. Our favourites are Shandwick or Dornoch, but they might be a bit far depending on what side of Inverness you are on.

Thank you, Reelig and Rogie falls are ones we really like, my parents live near Beauly. We don’t know where we are going to move to yet- open to suggestions of places to avoid and places to look at.
we haven’t been to farm ness heard there wasn’t much there? Silver Bridge has a good play area we have been to.
we haven’t been to Evanston Wood so will try they next time we are up thank you
