Aviemore short break

We’re looking at taking our kids to landmark adventure park in the next month. We’d like to do 2/ 3 nights away so we can go there for two days (according to tictok that’s the way to do it!) but I’m struggling to find decent accommodation nearby.
The idea of a bunkhouse is horrible, but I also refuse to spend £1000 for a crap caravan for two nights.

can anyone recommend B&b/ lodges/ cottages around that area?

Aviemore is like the Lake District or Cornwall. You will pay a fortune for anything remotely decent especially during school holidays.

A bunkhouse is fine for hillwalking but not suitable for kids. You are either going to pay through the nose or find somewhere an hour or more drive away.

Have you looked at the premier inn there?

The Coylumbridge resort hotel is good for kids, big swimming pool with flumes and a huge soft play, mini golf etc. It's a bit tired and needs a refurb since the Hilton sold it on.

Probably around £300 for two nights.

The Highlands in general is expensive for hotels etc. You might be better looking at the caravan park in Nairn or accomodation on ths outskirts of Inverness then driving down. It takes about 30 minutes and is well sign posted. You only really need one day to do landmark. It's a small park.

Are planning on doing landmark over two days? It’s excellent but not sure two days worth of stuff to do.

Second checking out the premier inn. Decent value normally…but likely fairly well booked

Probably don't need 2 days there. We only ever go for a day at a time and go for opening and stay all day. You will be able to get round everything. Where are you coming from?

You could look at slightly further away to see if cheaper. They have suggestions on their website for places to stay. Not sure of price.

It's a great day out and definitely worth a visit.

I would say 1 day is enough for Landmark. But also look at Loch Insh water sports, Highland Wildlife Park, Rothiemurthus Estate, Cairngorm Mountain, Reindeer experience etc.

Absolutely masses to do in the area but yeah accommodation is expensive. Maybe base yourself a bit outwith the National Park area, e.g. Inverness or Nairn way.

Thanks everyone. We’ve ended up booking at Nairn caravans Mon-Fri. Landmark & wildlife park booked for two of the days and looks like plenty of other things to fill in the time.

Enjoy yourself

Nairn is lovely. Great splash park and a nice park at the opposite end to the caravan park (you can walk along the front).

If you are in Aviemore agree that Highland wildlife park is good and my kids loved the tubing on Cairngorm mountain.

Lots of watersports/beach at loch morlich but it does get busy.

Edited to say that for Highland Wildlife Park the car park is pretty much in the centre of the site and easy access so if you want to take picnic/drinks etc it's very easy without lugging it all round.
