I am taking my elderly aunt to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital next week for day surgery .Any tips? Worried I won’t get parked.

I spent every day there for about 8 weeks and always got parking no problem. Just allow time to drive round and you will definitely find a space. If your Aunt has a blue badge then take that x

There is a large carpark, you'll be fine.

Thank you . No blue badge though… she is luckily very mobile for her age.

Depending on the time of your appointment, leave plenty of time to find a space. There are a couple of multi storey car parks, as well as outside car parks. Sometimes the one across from A&E entrance is quieter.

The car park opposite a&e referred to now has a barrier in it in the morning to try and keep it clear for people who need to be parking there. Like people accessing the langlands building.

If your surgery is not in that building and is in the main hospital I’d suggest the multi storey will be fine. You will have to drive round for a bit though. I always got a space. The lifts work and there are generally hospital wheeled chairs lying around if people need to pull relatives along in them. It’s free to park. I’ve not had any bother. hope it all goes well

I would disagree with the ease of parking as someone who works there, patients are regularly late and stressed. The layout leaves a lot to be desired too, its not easy to find your way around from the car parks. I would advise leaving plenty of time to park. As a very last resort there is a carpark across the road where you can pay to park so dont be too stressed about it. Also take a note of the department you're going to & their phone number so you can phone ahead if you're struggling to park - they'll be more likely to wait for you & not cancel you're appointment.

Honestly, I lived there for 8 weeks visiting someone. Some days I’d get a space quite quickly in my preferred car park and some days I’d be driving about for 20 mins but given it’s so far still free I just factored that in and tried to channel my inner peace 🙏

Hi
How do you go from the multi-storey car park to the Queen Elizabeth building? Walk along the main roads? The lifts can only take you up or down.__

Edited

If it’s car park 2 you leave it at the pedestrian crossing and it’s a pedestrianised walk straight ahead round to the main door. Only a few minutes walk.

There are usually hospital wheelchairs lying about the exit on the ground floor/inside the car park if you’re taking someone who isn’t able to walk far. It’s quite a walk from there round the back to the kids hospital if you are carrying a heavy child though.
