Has anyone else had an interview with a housing officer after applying for council house?

I currently rent a private let with my best friend. I filled in an application form with North Lanarkshire council. I have included my friend as a joint applicant.

I received a call saying someone from the housing would like to do a home visit to discuss housing is appropriate for me.

I listed myself as disabled on the application form, as I am autistic and also have BPD and ADHD, all of which impact my ability to care for myself in day to day living. I have also mentioned the state of the private let, as we have a lot of problems with damp, the windows don’t close properly and the electric wiring is faulty.

Do you think the lady from the housing will want to inspect the properly to see if it is as bad as I say it is? Or do you think she will just wanna go through my options?

Has anyone else had experience with this? Although I don’t have anything to hide, I like knowing what to expect, if that makes sense?

Thank you.

Probably both, if you've reported issues with your current housing and also a disability they might want to discuss both of those things, mostly to see your priority status, I believe both of things would give you added points and move you further up the list.

It’s likely because you’ve listed yourself as disabled which impacts your ability to care for yourself. They will need to assess your needs further to make sure you’re only put forward for the right type of accommodation so you don’t get offered housing which wouldn’t meet your needs.
