Going to Glasgow with 11 and 13yo for a weekend. Any recommendations for a nice family restaurant near the centre?
Staying near Buchanan galleries not will go to kelvingrove during the day.

And any activities they could do at night? Possibly cinema but anything else?
Tourist attractions all seem to shut at 5pm.

Sugo is very popular with teenagers. You can't book you just turn up but it's very quick.

How about something like an escape room?

Halloumi is lovely for Greek food. You’d probably need to book though as it gets busy.

Climbing walls open in the evenings ?
go to west end for a walk about and dessert / bubble tea in a cafe / dessert place

@Mydustymonstera where about is the climbing wall? Can you walk or need to get a bus? We're getting train there so need to use public transport.
And any recommendations on a west end cafe?
I don't know Glasgow other than the main shopping area.

Eusebi's cafe and deli in the west end. Strawberry tarts to die foe. Sugar Falls patisserie on the Byres Road is exceptional ! And not far at all from Kelvingrove museum . They do an amazing confection called Eden amongst other delights , which looks more like an apple than an actual apple . Maybe have a Google about both places ? Have fun. Glasgow is a great city for all ages .

There are some really great restaurants - it depends what type of food you are looking for.

Chaophraya is very near Buchanan Galleries - cool Thai restaurant. Beside it is Amarone, an Italian restaurant.

Stack & Still is nearby - would probably be a hit for the kids if they love pancakes.

I second Sugar Falls in the west end - it’s amazing and there is another similar patisserie nearby called Broken Clock which is also fantastic! There are lots of other desert places in the west end, such as Loop and Scoop. Koko House do the amazing fluffy pancakes.

You could get the subway from Buchanan St.

Boom Battle Bar and Level X in the St Enoch’s Centre has lots of activities that the kids might like.

Have a great trip.

A nice early evening outing if dry would be Subway to kelvinbridge, walk up great western road to botanic gardens (closes at dusk, can check times online) and loop and scoop cafe. Down Byres rd enjoying the atmosphere of Ashton lane
good suggestions from posters above about cafes on Byres rd.
subway back to your hotel from Hillhead.

climbing walls - Glasgow climbing centre, near ibrox subway and The Newsroom (prob a better shout for visitors or not regular climbers) which is near kinning park subway.

during the day a trip to the Southside (Queen’s Park/ govanhill / battlefield) would be fun maybe

what other plans do u have daytime?

nwilson12 · 28/05/2025 13:35
