Hi
I'm reaching.out for a bit of help. My.friend is coming.over.from Europe. I last saw her 35 years ago! Crazy I know.
We only.moved to south.west Scotland a year ago,.so still learning about the place.
Any suggestions where to go on a day out, that has something.for everyone, needs.to be dog friendly.
Also any great places to eat, also dog friendly.
would love to show her how great the area and the scots ate.
Want to void Glasgow/Edinburgh as she has been there before.
Thanks

Ayr? Or Largs and you could get the ferry to Millport.

@Instinct1 Ooh I've never done that, will definitely google it. I've been to Ayr , will put it on the list thanks

Drumlanrig castle? You need to book a tour. Also has nice gardens and woodland walks.
Dumfries House. Again book a tour. Has gardens too
Kirkcudbright is a nice town - art galleries, cafes, harbour, castle you can’t go into.
some nice beaches if weather good
threave gardens if you like gardens
lots of castles

Logan Botanic Garden and Kennedy Castle Gardens if you get some sunny weather

culzean castle? Not been for years but still remember it. Lovely walks and such.

I second Culzean Castle - an absolutely amazing place for a day out. Dog friendly, lots of lovely walks, cafes, ice cream, second hand bookshop. Definitely worth the entry fee.

Kelburn Castle is fun if you're heading up to Largs.
Mount Stewart and a day out on Bute - the victorian toilets by the ferry terminal are the top rated tourist attraction on tripadvisor 😂and there's a cute old newsagents just along the road that still sells sweets in a paper bag by the quarter.
Is Dunoon and Bemore botanic garden too far?
