If you were to relocate to one of these places with 2 young children. Where would you choose? Or where else?

We want countryside feel. A small town or large village. Safe and a thriving community.

Dunblane - but, what is your budget? This will be the driver

Dunblane for the train station

MrsSkylerWhite · 13/05/2025 12:48

Personally, love Crieff. Seems to be an active community, too.

How much deposit/equity? You will need to go over in Dunblane. Realistically you are looking at a 3 bed around 375k with at least 10% over to secure, perhaps more.

Dunblane, without a doubt.

PaquitaSalas · 04/09/2025 23:04

It would always be Dunblane for me. Having the station is brilliant.

Dunblane. Crieff is lovely and in gorgeous countryside but the roads to the A9 in winter aren't great. It's that bit further away from train stations and bigger shops and services. Great school with swimming pool, fab park and easy access to the north though.

Dunblane is much better located for transport, schools are good and there are lovely wee shops. Easy access to countryside. Strong community. But property reflects these positives.

I would prioritise schooling over all else - where are the schools best? I know people often hate the league tables but it’s a starting point.

If you don’t want to move again when the children are older, then the other posters are correct that the train station in Dunblane is a huge positive for work, shopping and play.

Crieff centre looks like it’s struggling a bit now. Dunblane would be better I think. Cupar?

Dunblane High has consistently done well in the league tables.
