Exams 2025

Anyone else really worried about DC’s exams? DD is doing highers and advanced higher, but she’s not started revising yet because she’s still got coursework to complete. Exams are 9th and 23rd May. I’m really worried she won’t get the grades she needs to get in to uni. I’m trying to not interfere, but it’s difficult.

Same here. I was hoping Easter holiday sessions would kick start revision, but DD spent most of them finishing coursework. She did start revision in earnest right at the end of the Easter hols, and had friends over to revise together last weekend, but she's now over it already.

There's a thread about UCAS applications full of lovely S6 parents, which might be helpful for you.

@Issy422 many thanks. She didn’t get great grades in S5 as it took her so long to get the coursework finished before she could revise and I can see history repeating itself. I’m
pretty sure I’m far more stressed than DD. Really doing my best to not interfere! Don’t think she’d listen to me anyway.

Course work is a real issue - it seems to take up far too much time. I have been warning DC that there comes a point where the time taken to gain an extra mark on coursework could gain him many more marks if spent revising, I am surprised it didn’t need to be handed in before Easter.

First day study leave here.

I think many of us are more nervous than the kids are. It's a difficult balance between encouraging and not adding pressure.

I should also have said that I started a general SQA exam thread earlier. (Doh! Blame having COVID and shingles for not thinking straight.)

Yes, first day here too. To give her credit, DD has gone into school to work on coursework as she finds it difficult to concentrate at home. It’s not a given she’ll get the grades she needs for uni and she really struggles with dyslexia.

I think yours started first, but I didn't see it until I started mine.
