Modular build extension

Hoping someone can recommend a company for a modular extension on a bungalow?

We are in Glasgow. The short time frame for modular builds appeals, although it's also supposed to be much cheaper so that also appeals. Thanks!

Hi,

I know a bit about modular construction through work. I don’t have a suggestion of a firm to use, sorry, but can give you some initial advice:

Modular is certainly faster but rarely cheaper for a one-off build.

What is your vehicle access like to the site of the extension? Direct road access is best. Access via narrow lanes or very confined sites can increase the price.
Ground conditions matter too - a flat site is simpler and cheaper than a steeply sloping site.

If you are using a non-local firm, ensure they are experienced with working with Scotland’s building control system.

Check and double check financial robustness of the firm, you may have to pay more upfront than you would with a traditional builder and in uncertain times insolvencies can happen.

Good luck! Hope you get a more specific response with some suggested modular systems.

Thank you so much @Zooeymither

Looks like I'll have to do a lot more research. Site access is limited but something we were going to look at in the future.

Thanks again - so helpful! 😊
