Hello,

I have read St Blanes is a catholic school, do they accept children who are non catholic? Who don’t follow any religion?

Are they forced into taking part in that curriculum? Would that be singled out, feel alone if majority of children is taking part in that study? Or are there other non catholic children who attend?

Also is St Blanes a good primary school ?

or would Kelvindale primary school be better? Thanks !

No idea about St. Blane's itself. Catholic schools do accept children from other faiths, but the religious education is usually part of the school day for all children.

However, you need to look at your catchment areas for secondary school and decide if you want the non-denominational system or the catholic system. If you choose a catholic primary but want your child to attend a non-denominational secondary, you will need to make a placing request in primary 7 for the non-denominational secondary school even if you live in catchment. Placing requests cannot always be fulfilled.

Where do you live? As those schools aren't that near each other! Caldercuilt is the non-denominational school in Summerston so if you're in catchment for St Blane's and not Catholic would seem the obvious choice?

This is also an excellent point! So the secondary options would be John Paul or Cleveden.

Yep, Kelvindale is also one of the feeder schools for Cleveden so you would need a placing request for Hyndland

soundsys · 06/03/2025 22:14

Cleveden is apparently much better than it used to be though!
