Nurseries near anniesland!

Hi,
I'm 6 months pregnant and we are starting to think about what happens when I return to work.
Have already applied to the university nursery, my husband works there, but throughout the application they have stressed they prefer to take full time placements.

I am not putting the baby in nursery full time. When I return to work I'm switching to a four day week, as is my husband, and we intend on putting the baby in nursery 3 days a week.

Still very hopeful the nursery accept this, but just in case we need backups. Is it normal to apply to multiple nurseries? I know we're still quite early.

The main thing I'm having trouble with is finding nurseries to be honest. The web presence for nurseries seems awful, I'm not sure what's accurate on Google maps, websites are years out of date, etc. I imagine a lot of it's word of mouth, but we've recently moved here and the only local people I've befriended are women 70+ (if you're 30 and live here where do you all hang out?) so I'm a bit lost.

Neither of us drive, so close to the uni or within walking distance of anniesland are what's needed, no big detour if it can be helped. So far I've found little me in temple and there's maybe two nurseries next to each other behind the mcdonalds? Again Google maps/web presence isn't clear!

Does anyone have any recommendations or advice please?

Have a look at Nurseries - Somerset Nursery (15 min walk to the uni), Home | West End Nursery, Glasgow (20 min walk to the uni) and The Park Nursery & Kindergarten - Home (15 min walk to the uni). In terms of meeting people, are you part of an antenatal group? Merrygoround offer hybrid ones with a meetup in person at week 3 (from a quick look the fully in person ones are booked up). You'd meet other mums-to-be this way Antenatal Classes Merry-go-round. MellowMamas also run a mum meet up once you've had the baby Mumma Meet Up | Glasgow | Mellow Mummas.

Thank you so much, I'll have a look at these nurseries!

In terms of antenatal groups, I haven't joined one. I've never had a baby before and neither have any of my friends, I'm a bit oblivious, I kind of assumed the midwife set these up? She did kind of mention them the time before last but it's really not on my list of things I've been asking her about. I'll have a look at local groups and classes too then! Thanks!

It will depend on the midwife as to whether they give you the info and expect you to go and book yourself onto some or whether they'll do it for you, but on the whole (in my experience) you have to book onto them yourself. I don't know if you're into reading but if so Anniesland library runs a weekly book group that a variety of ages attend Book Groups at Glasgow Libraries - Glasgow Life, that can also be a good way to meet people! The library also do a story time for dc under 5 once baby is here.

You are definitely not too early to be looking for a good nursery

Search on the care inspectorate website under 'find care.'

Most nurseries will have waiting lists pre-birth so you're not too early at all!
