Is home report single survey enough?

I’d be grateful for some advice please.
I haven’t bought a house since the 1990’s so the vendor home reports are new to me.

I’ve been browsing for a few months and looked at lots of home reports. It’s noticeable that the surveyor mentions lots of things they were unable to view eg the loft space due to stored items, assuming the house is connected to mains gas, noting central heating system in place but no testing to see if it actually works, assuming plumbing is all in good order etc

Do buyers feel safe taking the home report at face value and proceeding with purchase or is it advisable to arrange a separate “full survey”?

I’m on the verge of making an offer on a house I really like on the outskirts of Glasgow and wondering if I can safely take the overall good home report at face value or should I book a more detailed survey?

Any advice gratefully received 😊

In my experience the Home Report is just there to give an overview of the property. Most will mention that getting a more detailed survey is recommended for areas that score a 2 or 3. In my current house the HR said that there were damp, rot and infestation issues, but a detailed survey found none. But when we moved in we found a hole in the roof which had not been noticed. So, if in doubt get a more detailed survey undertaken but be aware that other problems may be present.
