Is Arthur’s seat a nice walk?

We are coming to Edinburgh with two teen boys. Done most of the museums before and they aren’t interested in shopping. Is Arthur’s seat nice? They enjoy a walk normally.

Yes, great walk and amazing views from the top!

It's absolutely stunning. You will have views of the entire city all the way round to East Lothian.

Literally one of the most beautiful places there is

Lovely but Salisbury Crags is easier

The path is rough in certain places, especially near the top ..the steep part is like a stone staircase. There are lots of interweaving paths . The rocks are slippy especially when wet ,so take care. Fantastic views from the top so hopefully you will have a clear day to do the climb.

Just be aware it is a proper hill walk with steep drops in places. It is a lovely walk but be prepared.

The last part up is a bit of a scramble and often busy on fine days. If you go down the back path there is an ice cream van and a pleasant walk back through the park.

It's worth it for the views on a clear day. You'll need shoes with decent grip as it's the sort of path that's slippery when wet and slippery when dry as it's well worn stone and loose gravel in parts. Don't bother if it's wet, cloudy or blowing a hoolie!!

Just go round by the road like the Jessies do. 😀Icecream van at top of hill or divert down steps to Duddingston Village and stop for small libation or game of skittles at the Sheeps Heid, the oldest pub in Scotland (much loved by the dear departed Queen, according to report of Edinburgh friend who was asked apologetically by staff to raise her feet as they hoovered round her, the mystery being solved when her Maj and lady in waiting appeared in dining room shortly thereafter).

Joking apart, it’s a glorious walk up hill from road up side of Commonwealth Pool and round. Wonderful views over Edinburgh and on clear day even out over Firth of Forth.
