Looking for ideas for a day trip accessible by public transport from Stirling for this Saturday. I think we've exhausted everywhere in the Stirling and Falkirk areas, as well as trips into Glasgow and Edinburgh. We're planning a day at Landmark and a cycle around Millport when/if the weather improves.

All ideas welcomed!

Thank you for your suggestions!

We had a wonderful day. We started in Discovery Point - very interesting and well done. RRS Discovery was a big hit. We had a really nice lunch in the V & A and then headed over to the Science Centre. This was really good and interactive but we were out in an hour. Got some photos with Desperate Dan and Beryl the Peril and then a bit of cake shopping in Fisher & Donaldson.

Great! I trust a fudge doughnut was involved 😃

Too late for this request but do you know about the kids for a quid on ScotRail?

You get a free kids entry to quite a few places with it too, including Edinburgh zoo. Worth looking at for school holidays.

Spree book can also be a good shout. There were quite a few decent discounts for Dundee area and you sign up to pay monthly (about £3) but can cancel anytime - and it was easy to cancel unlike some of these things.

I have coeliac disease and unfortunately Fisher & Donaldson is an emporium of forbidden treats for me. However DN said the brownie was the best ever and the rest of the family loved the rhubarb pies.

When I worked in St Andrews, pre diagnosis, the fudge doughnut was our Friday treat! Lush!

I've seen the adverts for the Kid for a Quid but can't seem to buy online. I'll enquire next time I'm at the station.

You buy the £1 tickets on the train.

Perth Museum? Just opened. You could do the Art Gallery too. Both walkable from the station.

WavingTree · 08/07/2024 17:53

You can’t buy the £1 tickets online, which is a pain. Apparently it is so adults don’t buy them and use them on the barriers
