Retirement on ill health grounds

Looking for some help please. I am in my late 50s and looking to retire from work on ill health grounds.......I have lots of health issues.
My report to the pensions agency from my GP is not great as the GPs in my surgery who write the reports do not deal with patients and have never met me at all. They have just sent a list of hospital report letters.

Has anyone else been in this situation and been able to get a report from someone else to help them retire? Many thanks.

Ask to be referred to an Occupational Health Consultant or pay privately.

Do you have any other HCPs involved in your care?

This isn't usually how it works.
Do you work for a large or small company?
Usually your employer would send you to occupational health (smaller companies buy into a service from the likes of Bupa). OH will gather all your medical reports and will come up with a recommendation whether you can return to your job with any adjustments, or to a different role or whether you should be retired on grounds of ill health. That's usually the first step towards retirement.

Then you will be looking at how you access your pension. Depending on the pension company you may then have to provide reports on the severity of your condition as they will want to make a decision whether you are permanently unfit for any job or just your current one. You may be able to get appropriate reports from any hospital consultants/therapists/specialist nurses involved with your care
