Arran high school and rugby football

I am very disillusioned with the secondary education where I am on the Cornwall Devon boarder. We are part of a MAT and the behaviour policy is causing huge absence from lessons for many children with SEN, and for minor issues.

I am considering a move to the Isle of Arran for a small school experience and a more family environment. Our current school is 1,400 plus.

What are peoples thoughts?
Is it a welcoming place?
Can children take part in competitive sports with other schools off the island?

My kids love rugby and football.

Any freed back on the state of Scottish education will be appreciated.

You’d be far better to head to east Lothian where there are many more opportunities, more English people, more dry weather and a rural love of rugby and football

I have no idea why you’d want to
maroon yourself on arran. You’re romanticising the idea of being isolated but if you’re really about the education I wouldn’t be looking there. IMO the west coast of Scotland is pretty patchy for education. If your heart is set on the west coast maybe looks down on Ayr/Troon - good schools strong communities and not completely cut off!!!

This is a thread started last March so the OP will have made her mind up a long time ago, I expect.
