My husband and I are thinking of making the move to relocate to be closer to family. Does anyone have any have any advice and experience of Kirkintilloch (outside Glasgow) High School and living in the area? Been useful to hear your thoughts.

We have family in Lenzie but very hard I think to get a house there.

Thanks

I had an old colleague with family in Kirkintilloch. They wanted Lenzie but couldn't get a house within their budget so went to Bishopbriggs. Based on the league tables Kirkintilloch High isnt one of the top schools but i dont have any personal experience of it.

Yeah I saw that on the league tables. It seems hard to get a decent house in Lenzie for reasonable price and by the looks of it not many come up. Probably tells you the school is good.

Bishopbriggs isnt far away and has a well rated school so might be worth a look

Thanks. Do you know anything about the area?

Bishopbriggs Academy is highly rated. Friends of ours moved into catchment when their eldest two were high school age (renting while they found a place to buy); they then found that they were (unplanned) expecting DC4. They bought in Robroyston and DC3 got into Bishopbriggs Academy on a placing request; DC4 is at a Bishopbriggs Academy feeder primary on placing request but there is no guarantee off a high school place (the age gap is too big for sibling connection).

The school in Bishopbriggs is well rated. I just checked the league tables, in the most recent, its the 10th best school in the country in comparison with Lenzie being 35th. The chap I worked with who lived in Bishopbriggs, absolutely loved it. From memory, he had two boys. They were all very happy there. It sounded like a family oriented area. There was an active golf club that he was a member off. Although he could take the train, he often used to cycle into work in Glasgow city centre so it seemed like a handy location. My husband has a friend who lives there too. He and his wife are looking to start a family and want to upsize their home but are adamant they will remain in Bishopbriggs. I don't really know much about it beyond these two people but there's no doubt that its a well thought of area in Glasgow. If you want to be close to Lenzie, you couldn't pick a better place closeby. They are also both on the same train line so you would be able to get to Lenzie in about 5 mins.
