Glasgow Children's Hospital

Hi looking for some pointers! 6 month old dc is having an op at Glasgow Children's Hospital and we need to be in for 9am for pre op, staying overnight after the op and depending on how he is home next day. It looks easy enough to walk from the travelodge to the hospital rather than chance hospital parking? Does anyone know the area?
Thanks in advance!

Which Travelodge are you staying at

If you are at the travelodge govan, then its an easy walking distance to the hospital. And has a car park with plenty of spaces.

If i were you i would keep the car there and walk over.

Hope everything goes ok op.

Sorry should have said Travelodge Govan! Been up once before to see consultant and the traffic was horrendous so thought staying close night before would take stress away. Only concern is letter says baby must leave in car or taxi? Dh having to stay at home with older dc otherwise would have just got him to bring car around. Hopefully they'll be OK with short distance to car at hotel!

Thanks both for reading and responding! Just thinking of holing up night before, not sure if want to bring food for dinner, takeaway or brave the restaurant!

It is very close as pp have said. It is also close to Braehead, so a short drive will give you a range of restaurants. There is a McDonald's in walking distance. There is also an m and s in the hospital and microwave facilities to heat food etc when your dc is on surgery.

Hope everything goes well!

Hello, I’ve stayed twice with my child at the children’s hospital. Once for one night and once for 4. The big mutistorey car park (not the one closest to the kids hospital, nearer the main hospital) is now really easy to park in. They started monitoring staff usage last summer and so there’s always places for patients. I’ve not left the car overnight but I don’t see why you couldn’t if parking at the travel lodge is too far.

I’ve stayed on a ward and also in a private room. The following are useful for you regardless: flip flops or slippers, chargers for devices, snacks for you, refillable water bottles, coffee mug, dressing gown or hoodie etc. Also something to keep you busy, particularly when they are in theatre.

Our first stay was short and during Covid but last year for our longer stay we were amazed by what was on offer in terms of toys, colouring in, even a cinema. There was also a kitchen with snacks for the children (yoghurt, jelly, fruit etc). I was also offered meals which I sometimes took or if my DH was in I’d go down to the big hospital for a break and grab something nice from M&S. There are a couple of cafes to choose from too.

I hope everything goes well for your DC.
